PFT: Eagles continue search for rock bottom

Seahawks' Lynch runs across the goal line past the Eagles' Samuel for a touchdown during their NFL football game in SeattleReuters

Here?s what we learned Thursday night, wondering how much lower this Eagles season can go.?

1. Vince Young kneeled down, trying to control his emotions, stunned by the gut-punch of a pick six he had just thrown. Young?s fourth quarter interception essentially ended Philly?s chances of winning Thursday night. ?At least Young appeared to care about Philadelphia?s 31-14 loss to Seattle.

2. Thursday?s game seemed to be about effort. Both teams entered the game at 4-7, but the game meant more to Seattle. They fought for every play.

The NFL Network said the Eagles? season was on the line at one point, but Philly?s season was over weeks ago. The Eagles played like they knew it. You don?t get to 4-8 through bad luck.

3. Marshawn Lynch was in full Beast Mode with 148 yards and two touchdowns. Even his one-yard gains were hard-fought battles. The Seahawks have found an identity with a strong defense and Lynch?s running.

4. Young will get the blame because he threw four interceptions. He wasn?t sharp, but this was a full team meltdown. Riley Cooper dropped passes, one of them leading to an interception in the red zone. DeSean Jackson appears to have lost interest.

Philadelphia?s defense can?t tackle anyone. They gave up big plays to Lynch, Ben Obomanu, Michael Robinson, Golden Tate, and Doug Baldwin. This isn?t exactly the Patriots offense they were facing.

5. Tarvaris Jackson said this game on a short week was about attitude. Jackson deserves credit for his accuracy too. He made great decisions on third downs, often under pressure. He only had three incompletions in 16 attempts to go with 190 yards and a score.

6. I?ve said for a few weeks that this Seahawks team is better than last year?s playoff squad. They have a strong defense that stops the run and can make plays in the secondary. Jackson has steadily improved overall. Lynch is running better. Pete Carroll has slowly built this team up, especially on defense.

7. It?s going to get worse for the Eagles before it gets better. This team is headed for ten losses or more. Their record may be so bad, the Eagles can draft Michael Vick?s replacement in the first round.

8. The vitriol in Philadelphia may be tough for the Eagles ownership to handle, no matter how much they want to keep Andy Reid.
