Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. (NYSE:DTG) will unveil its latest earnings on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. A Look Back: In the third quarter, profit rose 35.5% to $66.6 million ($2.13 a share) from $49.2 million ($1.62 a share) the year earlier, exceeding analyst expectations. Revenue rose 1.8% to $451.7 million from $443.5 million.

The company has been profitable for each of the last eight quarters. In the last four, profit has risen year-over-year by an average of 1.4%. The quarter that saw the biggest surge was the most recent quarter, when there was a a 35.5% boost.

Revenue rose in the third quarter after seeing a drop the quarter before. In the second quarter, revenue fell 0.3%.

Stock Price Performance: Between November 17, 2011 and February 15, 2012, the stock price rose $9.13 (13.9%), from $65.73 to $74.86. The stock price saw one of its best stretches over the last year between March 10, 2011 and April 1, 2011, when shares rose for 17 straight days, increasing 23.1% (+$12.51) over that span. It saw one of its worst periods between September 14, 2011 and September 26, 2011 when shares fell for nine straight days, dropping 8.6% (-$5.57) over that span.
