How scary is too scary for a kids Halloween party?

We have 3 boys- ages 6, 9 and 10- that want to have a halloween party this year. The older boys want it to be scary with skulls and blood and guts, but I?ve also got to consider the younger kids?. My youngest son is okay with scary too, but he is inviting kids from his class and some of them are only 5 years old!! The party can?t be too babyish or the older kids will think it?s lame?. how do I walk this fine line between too scary and too baby?

IF you have a garage then set the garage up as a ?Spooky House? with black curtains and such. You can have bowls of ?eyeballs? (olives) and guts (spaghetti) ? you can do wonders with simple foods ? NOTE: it has to be totally dark and the containers need to be PLASTIC (the best I found was to use the actual plastic pumpkins).
Now for the wee little ones I would set up an area for games. This way IF the little ones want to go to the ?spooky house? they can..if not they don?t have to.
